Conversion guide · Website diagnosis
Why is your trade website
not generating enquiries?
The enquiry can fail long before the form. First establish whether suitable customers can find the site, understand the offer, trust the business and complete the action—and whether the message actually arrives.

Start with five separate failure points
“The website does not work” is too broad to diagnose. A customer must pass through discovery, relevance, trust, action and delivery. Each stage produces different evidence and requires a different fix.
- Visibility: the right customers never see the page.
- Relevance: the page appears, but does not match the specific job.
- Trust: the customer understands the service but remains unconvinced.
- Action: the mobile journey or form creates too much friction.
- Delivery: the customer submits, but the business never receives it.
No traffic is a visibility problem
Check Search Console rather than guessing from inbox silence. If important pages receive no relevant impressions, inspect crawling, indexing, titles, page purpose, internal links, competition and the depth of the evidence.
A homepage rarely deserves to rank for every service and location. Important commercial needs may require distinct pages, but each must contain substantially different, useful information.
Traffic without enquiries may be the wrong traffic
A page can attract research searches, students, suppliers or customers outside the service area. Review the queries and landing pages. High visitor counts cannot compensate for a mismatch between the search, offer and commercial next step.
The page should state what the business does, who it helps, where it genuinely works and what the customer should do next. Supporting detail should resolve the risks specific to that service.
Trust must appear before the request
A form asking for an address and contact details requires trust. Show the real business, qualifications where relevant, completed work, process, coverage, reviews and practical answers before demanding information.
Generic stock imagery, invented teams and vague superlatives weaken that trust. Specific evidence with honest limitations is usually more persuasive than a wall of badges without explanation.
Mobile friction hides in ordinary details
Small text, overlapping banners, unclear menus, intrusive pop-ups, hard-to-tap buttons and forms that erase data after an error can end the journey. Test on an ordinary phone with one hand rather than relying only on a desktop preview.
Calls to action should appear after meaningful decision points. Repeating the same button every few lines can feel desperate without making the next step clearer.
Prove the form arrives
Submit a real test through the live website and confirm server acceptance, email delivery and creation of the private lead record. A success animation is not proof if the underlying request failed.
Reliable forms validate input, preserve entered values after failure, reduce bot abuse, keep a unique lead reference and maintain more than one sensible preservation path. Failure should create an actionable record rather than silence.
